We believe that it is important to approach safety in a proactive manner, ensuring that our staff and students are all familiar with our protocols and procedures. Each school is required to practice drills each year to ensure students and staff know what to do in case of an emergency. Today we practiced a lockdown. A Lockdown minimizes access and visibility in an effort to shelter students, staff and visitors in secure locations. It is important that we practice these procedures in order to keep our school community safe at all times. Now that we are experiencing some spring weather, we will be conducting a few more surprise fire drills, one more lockdown drill and a tornado drill. In preparation, teachers review with students the purpose and procedures for the drills. We never want our students to feel frightened, but they do need to be prepared to respond appropriately.
Mr Bruni and Mme Shantz were very proud of the students and staff for being quick to act and for being so quiet during the drill. Well done STARS!
Please contact the school if you have any questions.
