Dear Parents,
We have lots to share with you today! For starters, we were very happy to have avoided a labour disruption and to have all or staff and students back in the building!
Report Cards – Please note that Progress Reports were sent home today. Students/parent/teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 24th (some French Immersion, 2 teacher model classes are on Wednesday after school). Please take some time to discuss your child’s report card with them as soon as possible. It is our expectation that every student has a parent meet with their child’s teacher in the fall and we ask that the student attend the conference with their parents. Your conference times are listed in the report envelope of the oldest and only students.
Interviews – your interview with your child’s classroom teacher has been scheduled. Please note that each child has another teacher for one period of each day as well; Planning Time and Core French teachers. If you wish to book an appointment with that teacher, please send them an email by 4:00pm Wednesday. We ask that you please mention your current interview times and they will endeavor to schedule a time as close to that as possible. The teachers and their class assignments are as follows:
Mrs. SawayaBester sara.sawayabester@wcdsb.ca covers: Rodrique, Diemert, Doyle, Shaver and Guidolin
Mrs. Hambleton brittany.hambleton@wcdsb.ca covers: Drescher, Croft and Perez
Mr. Francis trevor.francis@wcdsb.ca covers: Bolohan, Delaney, Schnute and Bowman
Ms. Haramis kestra.haramis@wcdsb.ca covers: Best, Clarke, Pacosz, Tank, Sosnowski and Haffner
Mme. Nuss linda.nuss@wcdsb.ca covers: DeLaurier, Bowman (Gr. 4 FSL), Mockler, Demars, Strub, Backewich
Mme DeJong karen.dejong@wcdsb.ca covers: Eulenberg, Miller, Delic, Dufresne and Delic
Attendance Letters – a healthy number of students received attendance letters with their report cards. Please take these as a gentle reminder of the importance of being at school and being on time. There is no need to defend your choices, we know folks are busy and kids get sick. We used a pretty large threshold of 8 days absent and 10 days late leading to who received the letters – this meant 121 students received this attendance reminder. The original threshold that has been used in the past (6 and 9) produced 191 students meeting that threshold. The bottom line is that attendance at school is important, as is being on time. Since we have one of the latest bell times in the region, we should be able to start the day with full classrooms.
Lost and Found – We have a extremely large collection of “Lost and Found” items on display in the hall outside the library. The students will have the opportunity to take a look this week and we ask all parents to check it out on Interview night. This large of a collection is a clear indication that the students need to increase/improve responsibility for their belongings. Your support and participation with this process would also be appreciated.
Drop Offs and Calls – speaking of responsibility for items, we are having an increase in calls about and drop offs of clothing and lunch items. Please do your best to have the children leave home with everything they need in the morning. Disrupting class with calls and drop off items does not help maintain focus on the learning. We ask that you do not call the school to ask to speak with your children during the day unless there is an emergency.
New GaGaball Pit – due to the popularity of GaGaball, we purchased a second pit, it was delivered on the weekend, the kids were very excited this morning. We now have a dedicated pit for Kindies and Primaries (JK – Gr. 3) and another dedicated for Juniors and Intermediates (Gr. 4 – 8)
Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week – is this week. This means that we will have bullying announcements and prayers, 2 assemblies tomorrow (half the school at a time), class visits for discussion and stories with Mrs. Fundak or Mr. Gladding. There will be “mismatched shoes day” on Friday and students are welcome to wear pink or other bright colours on Friday (or any other time) to show that at St. Anne, we stand up against bullying. Please note that there is a information section and chart about bullying in your child’s agenda book. This is a good week to give that an additional read. The students are being reminded to be kind, be a friend and to make great choices.
Have a great night and thank you for all your ongoing support.
