Ride your bike, walk or even dance your way across Canada… Are your calves ready?
WHAT IS THE ON YOUR FEET CHALLENGE?
This fall, active transportation and physical activity will be taking centre stage at Saint Anne!
Schools and families across the country are invited to walk, bike or even scoot on a daily basis…. Especially YOUR family!
As a Saint Anne Community, we are inviting everyone to take on active challenges and to travel as far as you can in order to collectively log the goal of 6,000 kilometers (the distance spanning between British Columbia to Newfoundland and Labrador).
Does that seem like a lot at first? You would be AMAZED at how fast it can actually be accumulated. All we need is some dedication, determination and willingness to embrace whatever weather the month of October brings!
Skateboarding to the park or scooting to a friend’s house counts! Walking to school counts too! What? You take the bus? NO WORRIES! We have a KM club all set up and ready for kids to join! We even bring the tunes to make it fun!
Let’s get started!
From September 1 to October 28, 2022
Register yourself or a team (family, class, group)online at onyourfeetchallenge.ca. Registration is now open.
From October 10 – 28, 202
Count the kilometers you travel by active transportation and help your classroom Staff to tally up the distance. Then, as a school, we will record them regularly ononyourfeetchallenge.ca in order to measure how Saint Anne is doing at reaching its goal of 6,000 kilometers!
WHAT IS ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION?
Active transportation consists in getting from point A to point B by using your own steam instead of a motorized vehicle.
Modes of active transportation include :
- Cycling
- Walking or Running
- Rollerblading
- Scootering
- Skateboarding
- Walking Backward
- Participating in Saint Anne’s KM club
So… Come on Golden Stars! Step up this October and join the Challenge! You will feel better, sleep better, learn better, find friends along the way and who knows, learn a new skill or mode of transportation along the way!
With adult permission, feel free to send us any pics or examples of what YOU do to get moding or moving! We will share them on our school Twitter feed: @stannestars
