It is hard to believe that June has arrived and that the year is winding down and coming to an end. We are amazed at how much your children have grown over the course of the year. We have truly enjoyed seeing them grow as readers, writers, mathematicians, thinkers and most of all in their friendships with one another. We even had the pleasure and the privilege to welcome many new students and their families to our school community. It’s June and school will soon come to a close for the summer break. But it’s not over yet and there is much more to learn and do at school. June is full of fun activities, sports and ceremonies!
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Madame Amy Shantz, our vice-principal, is leaving Saint Anne School at the end of this school year. Madame Shantz will be assigned to a new school (to be determined) and I know she will embrace a different learning experience and new set of challenges. I will certainly miss her presence in the school as she has contributed a great deal to our school community over three years as teacher and vice principal. I wish her much happiness and success in her career. On behalf of the Saint Anne school community, thank you Madame Shantz for your assiduous dedication to our school and wish you all the best! Au Revoir.
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Vella Giglio-Chiasson as our new vice principal for September 2018. She will bring many gifts and talents to this school community. She is currently vice principal at St. Teresa of Calcutta and is excited for the opportunity to be a STAR!
Philip and I have thoroughly enjoyed this year at Saint Anne School and we would like to extend our gratitude to the school community for making this school year another memorable one. A special word of thanks to all parents/guardians who have supported our school initiatives throughout the school year. The staff at Saint Anne are totally remarkable. They inspire our students and they work diligently to make our school excel in academics, athletics and the arts. Their hard work, commitment of time and talent are much appreciated. The students at Saint Anne are “GOLDEN”. I will truly miss working with all of you. Keep on working with enthusiasm and I wish you all the best in the new school year. Go Stars!
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of our volunteers who so generously gave of their time to our Saint Anne School Community. You made a positive difference in the lives of our students. Many thanks extended to Mrs. Maryanne Cahill who once again championed our Nutrition for Learning Program and our All Star Reading Program.
My thanks are also extended to Saint Anne School Council members, under the leadership of Mrs. Lisa Sulpher (Co-Chair) and Mr. Tony Rossel (Co-Chair) who have worked so hard to enrich our school. Our school council commitment, creative ideas and guidance are very much appreciated.
There are many exciting activities taking place at Saint Anne School in the month of June. Please join us for as many activities as you can. We especially hope to see many parents at our Year-End Mass at St. Anne Parish on Wednesday, June 13 at 1:15 pm. We would also love to see you at our many athletic events and our Annual Mission Day on June 22nd. The last instructional day for the 2017-2018 school year will be Friday, June 29th. Report cards will go home on Tuesday, June 26th and page 3 must be returned to the school by Thursday, June 28th.
A sincere thank you to all the fathers in our school community. Hoping for a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday, June 17th.
On Wednesday, June 27th at 5:30 pm in our school gymnasium we will have our Grade 8 Graduation. We want to express our gratitude for all the support our graduating class has provided in their leadership within the school this year. A special thanks to their Star teachers who have guided them along their journey at Saint Anne. There legacy remains within our school but now it is time for them to shine bright in high school.
In closing, we wish all our students and their families many blessings for a safe, relaxing and fun-filled summer. See you back at Saint Anne School on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018.
Philip Bruni & Amy Shantz
MISSION DAY FUN!
Our Mission Fun Day is Friday, June 22 in the afternoon from 1:00-2:45! This is an afternoon when students get to travel freely around the school participating in games, raffles, contests and buy amazing treats or treasures!
This year, the money raised on Mission Day will go to Mom To Mom Africa, as well as a number of other local charities who are so thankful for our generosity.
Tickets will be used for each event or item. Some activities will require more than one ticket to participate. Tickets cost $0.50 each and will be available on-line until midnight on June 20.
Parents are welcome to join their children during the Mission Day fun time!
In order for Mission Day to be a success, we need families to consider donating some of the following items:
- gently used stuffies/toys
- gently used games and puzzles
- pre loved books, DVD’s, CD’s
- wrapped candies and suckers
- small items to use as game prizes (erasers, pencils etc. )
- new items that could be used in raffles (doesn’t have to cost much, just be new)
- balloons and glow sticks
As you can see, Mission Day might be a good way to find a new home for some things you find in your spring cleaning!
It is going to be a wonderful way to end our school year and to help many local charities!
The choir is hard at work practicing for the WCDSB’s “O Canada” competition. We are recording the new version of our country’s anthem with the lyrics, “…in all of us command”. We have instrumentation from Orff, Boomwhackers, bells, violin (many thank Emily R.!), guitar (Go Mr. Marcotte!) and piano — yahoo!! If we win, our recording of “O Canada” will be featured in the board’s new CD being released soon. Go Golden Stars and good luck!

Jump Rope for Heart
Hey Jumpcredible Golden Stars! Did you know that we exceeded our goal, raising an incredible $12083.45!!! Thank you to our students and families for your awesome fundraising efforts! You should be very proud to know that you are helping to save lives!
The Heart and Stroke Foundation will be doing one final pick up of pledge envelopes on June 1st for any students still wishing to donate. They will then place the order for prizes. Students that have qualified for prizes can expect to receive it sometime in June.
Thanks again to everyone who made our Jump Rope for Heart Event such a big success!
The results of our Value Village FUNDrive are in…we collected 1259 pounds of clothing and other textiles and prevented them from ending up in a landfill!!! With the money earned from this collection and our Cash Online donations, we raised $420 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Way to go, Golden Stars!
With the warm weather finally here, let’s remember to do our best to continue being green all summer long:
– Try keeping your lights turned off to keep your house cooler, and run your air conditioner as little as possible. Both will save energy and save you money!
– If you visit a beach or public park, take a few minutes to pick up any garbage you see on the ground.
– Use your cars less and walk or bike more…this warm weather won’t last forever!
– Pack healthy snacks and water in reusable containers and water bottles when going on family picnics, day trips, road trips, or any other summer adventures!
Thank you for all you continue to do to support building a sustainable future for our students. Stay green, Golden Stars!
