As many of you are aware, Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder is a condition that affects a great many of our young people and adults throughout this province. Our student trustees feel very strongly about helping to raise awareness about Autism and have suggested that Catholic school boards designate Autism Awareness Day (April 2) as a “civvies” day in Catholic schools.

We would suggest that boards invite students to wear blue shirts as part of their “civvies” attire on April 2. This effort can help to raise awareness and funds in support of initiatives being developed locally or provincially to increase understanding and acceptance of people with autism around the world.
